About LAY

LAY started from LAYOVER, our sportstyle footwear store that we have run for the past seven years. Over that time, we worked with brands we truly liked and believed in, such as New Balance, ASICS, KEEN, Mizuno, and many others.

Throughout the years, we were grateful to receive great support from our customers. One thing that surprised us was that around 70% of our customers were women, while the other 30% were unisex customers. It made us realize that many people were looking for a store that offered more than just sneakers.

About two years ago, we visited Copenhagen and found a multi-brand sneaker store created especially for women. That experience gave us a lot of inspiration. We felt that this was very close to the kind of community we already had.

That was the beginning of LAY.

The name LAY means to place things together in a thoughtful way. For us, it represents how clothing, footwear, and accessories can be mixed together to create personal style in a simple and natural way.

Footwear is still an important part of who we are, but Copenhagen also opened our eyes to contemporary womenswear and a different way of styling. That inspired us to bring in womenswear, unisex clothing, accessories, and more alongside sneakers.

LAY is not only about brands from Copenhagen. We also select brands from many places based on what we genuinely like and want to share.

LAY is our next step — built from our past experience, shaped by our taste today, and growing into something new.
